Is there such a thing as Permanent Botox?

Botox is known as a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment used by people that would like to help their wrinkles become less visible. The usage of this practice usually comes between the early 30s and late ’60s and beyond. People use this as a temporary treatment for their wrinkles and other unwanted changes that relate to aging. The result tends to last about 3-6 months and everybody is different. So it is best to plan to continue treatments if you like the results as it is definitely not a permanent solution. Some people have noticed that the more they get it done, the longer it lasts, but also some say it goes away faster as they age, so it is a very individual experience. What people can agree on are wrinkles really do disappear or diminish substantially. Botox is seen as a much less painful process than getting a facelift and also much less expensive.

Botox is only a temporary treatment, so if you are wondering if there is any “permanent” type of botox, the answer is no, but you can always refer to a surgical cosmetic treatment, such as a facelift but expect a hefty price tag and a lot of downtime.

Botox works as an anti-wrinkle treatment for people experiencing these kind of undesired aging effects. It relaxes the muscles in the face that causes the wrinkles. It restrains the muscle from contracting. This blocks the  release of the chemical in the nerve called acetylcholine, which creates all the contractions and also excites the muscle where it can then create wrinkles. They are the early stage of wrinkle, which is the static wrinkle. This occurs when the wrinkle appears when you smile or simply create a facial expression.

As stated by dermatologist and experts, this is the best time to have Botox treatment. Since the wrinkle is only starting to appear in the face, the treatment will have the best effect on the problem. Another is the dynamic wrinkles; this is a more permanent wrinkle on ones face. Usually, the use of Botox is not as affective as it will not have the same effect as it does on the static wrinkles. Since the wrinkles may be too deep, Botox will keep it from getting deeper. Simply, it will have a softening effect and help it to not get any worse. Botox helps from getting those deep permanent wrinkles, that is why it is advisable to have Botox when you first start noticing the lines that you’d rather not see.  or those that come out when you make a facial expression.

Since Botox is used for temporary use, the permanent effect of the drug is impossible. Botox cannot keep the muscle from extracting in a very long time or keeping the pathways obstructed permanently. The drug will be eliminated in the body since the body will work to metabolize the drug itself. Usually, the effect of the drug lasts from 3 to 6 months at the most.

It is advisable to get your technicians advice on the amount of botox needed for your particular situation so a consult is usually the best place to start if you have never received Botox before.  The results will vary based on many different factors including skin type, age and other factors. Usually, elderly or people aged 60 and above tend to have more sensitive or thinner skin. The technician should take all these factors into consideration when choosing areas and amount of Botox needed.

Botox is used to treat different medical conditions and not just cosmetic treatments. Some people use Botox for chronic migraine, lazy eye, cervical dystonia, and even eye twitching and others may use it for hyperhydrosis. (excessive sweating) There are some constraints in using Botox, such as having a heavy eyebrow or lid. If too much botox is used the effect may just worsen the lid’s condition. It is important to use the right amount to avoid this.

There are some minor and mostly rare side effects to Botox. These can be minor pain and swelling, headache, and in very rare cases crooked smiles or droopy brows. That is why it is imperative to find an experienced and professional doctor or botox practitioner who comes highly recommended.

It is always best to ask for advice on your doctor or dermatologist for the best options for your condition.
